Beauty Formula
and how it works ! Our life span had increased due to advances in medical science, but we are open to more environmental pollution, harsh chemicals and ultra violet rays. These elements damage our skin and hair, and practice of regular care and maintenance routines assumes more significance, so that we maintain a lovely skin. SKIN is the largest and most vulnerable organ in our body. Sun and anything under the sun can adversely affect our skin. It is composed of three layers EPIDERMIS, DERMIS and HYPODERMIS. Epidermis acts as a protective barrier and helps to seal in the body's moisture. It is composed of layers of dead cells, which keep moving and exfoliate. Pigment cells responsible for color of our skin and protection against UV rays are present in Epidermis. Dermis is composed of connective tissue fibers. It provides support and elasticity to skin. There are oil glands, sweat glands, and blood vessels in the dermis. It can hold water and is responsible for aging of our skin. Hypodermis is composed of fat cells and affect the appearance of our skin. Some important factors that affect the health of the skin are balanced nutritious diet rich in fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables, plenty of water, fresh air and exercise. Avoid smoking and excess of alcohol. Good sleep protection against sun and happy attitude help in glowing complexion.
It is very
important to know what is the type of skin you possess for proper
care. There are basically four types of skin: DRY SKIN, OILY SKIN,
COMBINATION SKIN and NORMAL SKIN. You can find out the type of your
skin by doing a tissue paper test.
OILY SKIN
is the most problematic skin if not cared and cleansed properly.
OILY skin is common in all ages, but more in teenagers. It ages
slowly but can result into black heads, white heads, acne and
scarring if neglected. Cleansing regularly is most important for
oily skin. Mint cloves, camphor, tomatoes, fuller's earth (multani
mitti), rose water, cucumber and iced water are helpful in improving
oily skin. Oily skin should be cleansed thoroughly. You may wipe it
with camphor based lotion in rose water. Pores should be absolutely
unclogged. Make a scrub at home with two tablespoons of orange peel
/ lemon peel powder, fuller's earth and rose water. Oil free
moisturizer should be used. Toning with cucumber juice is excellent.
Avoid oily massage and steaming for obvious reasons. Cut out all
oily, spicy, starchy foods from your diet. Drink plenty of water,
eat salads, fruits, particularly citrus fruits. Oily skin problems
should be treated clinically. SENSITIVE SKIN is most delicate of all skin types. It may be dry or oily. It reacts adversely to detergents and soaps, extreme climates and sometimes even natural ingredients. It gets irritated easily and prone to redness and broken veins. It manifests allergic reactions easily and should be handled with care. The golden rule is - NEVER EXPERIMENT WITH YOUR SKIN.
NORMAL SKIN
is the ideal skin. It is slightly moist and looks healthy. It does
not suffer from pimples, black heads and blemishes. If you are
fortunate to have a normal skin, make sure you take good care of it.
Have regular massage and use a moisturizer regularly. A few drops of
lemon added to the white of an egg with honey, applied on the face
for 15 minutes acts as an excellent tonic and pack.
